Final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show to air on May 25 | TV News

Harpo productions announced last week that the final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show will air on May 25. Winfrey, the host of Oprah – the highest rated talk show in American television history – had previously announced in 2009 that she was drawing her hit daytime TV show to an end after twenty five years so that she could focus on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

While the Oprah show has been reported to have been airing “reruns” for the past few weeks, the “Queen of daytime TV” Oprah Winfrey confirmed via her Twitter account that all new episodes will being airing on April 7 but no details have been released as to what celebrities are expected to grace Oprah’s last few episodes.

Winfrey last year announced she will host an evening talk show on her new cable network. “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” an hour long show, is expected to debut late in 2011.

Winfrey’s new show, which could air as many as two or three times a week, will take Winfrey out of the studio setting that has been her home for nearly 25 years and follow her around the globe for conversations in places such as Egypt and China. “I’m going to take viewers with me, going to take celebrities I want to interview with me” around the world,” Winfrey said.
