X Factor US contestant Astro unleashes LΦSER mixtape | Stream

If there is one thing that Hip Hop has taught the world, is how to seize an opportunity and capitalise off everything. No matter how old the emcee, the DJ, the producer, she or she will seek to gain more notoriety off the back of different situations and opportunities. Step forward former X Factor US favorite Astro, whom shortly after his performance with 50 Cent on the season finale dropped his fifth mixtape project entitled LΦSER.

The bulk of the the ten-track set, which comes with zero guest appearances, was produced by close associate !L∆®øn¡ [don’t ask me how to pronounce that name] with additional beats supplied by Datz Hymn and the young man of the moment himself.

I turn my back to all X Factor everything and ignorantly thought that the young’n was just some gimmick, as a result I wasn’t expecting much if anything from this project – but the overall production, including that by The Astronomical Kid, as well has his lyrical delivery [i.e flow] caught me off guard. I wasn’t expecting his delivery and the production on the tape to be as decent as they are.

My personal highlights of the tape include tracks “Different” and “Paradise.” If this project is the sign of things to come from the young man then his rumoured deal with the now L.A Reid operated Epic Records could have him rival fellow young emcee Justin Bieber Diggy Simmons. Stream the full project below, or buy it for £5 here.

I’ve listened to a ton of worse mixtapes by emcees twice Astronomical’s age…
