Wyclef-JeanIn an emotional interview with Oprah yesterday, Wyclef Jean discusses the tragic emergency in his hometown. Contains footage of the crisis through his eyes.

“I remember, every night… the people were singing. Despite what they were going through… we still heard ‘Amazing grace, how sweet thou art..‘ because the Haitian people are the people of 1804, the first black republic. It’s nothing that they can’t withstand after taking out the Napoleon army. We now what struggle is. Just to see, despite what they were going through, that you can still hear them chanting and singing the words of God, is unexplainable” he says, welling up.
