Watch EPMD’s Unsung special | TV Catch-Up

TVOne’s Unsung series is probably the best show on the channel as it consistently tells great stories of legendary soul, R&B and hip-hop groups. The latest episode shines a spotlight on one of the golden era crews, EPMD.

Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith talk about their musical influences (Sermon used to mimic Ray Charles for his parents’ friends) and humble beginnings in New York.

The duo show their unorthodox recording process which included a massive looping machine that they used to create some of their classic tracks and how they would rhyme side by side into a mic hanging from the ceiling.

Redman, Das Efx, Keith Murray and many others make appearances.

It’s 30 minutes of classic material, so get some popcorn, grab a seat and enjoy the show.
