Van Hunt fans have been craving, praying and hoping for a full length studio album from the Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist for almost five years now since his last proper LP release On the Jungle Floor in 2006 on Capitol records (there was the Popular album which kind of found it’s way around in 2008 unofficially), but after taking some time away to reflect and reinvogorate his musical energies Van Hunt is back with a new LP which will be released tomorrow.
Van Hunt‘s musical return opus What Were You Hoping For? has been described as a eclectic, funk meets punk with a dash of soul and in an interview with Paste Magazine Hunt said about the new LP,“I feel like I’ve finally shed the music that I grew up with. “I’m really excited about this record,” he continues. “I love the way it sounds. I’m nervous about the way it’ll be received, even by big Van Hunt fans, and I think that’s good. I want the record to be disruptive.”
