Tinie Tempah becomes 1st UK rapper to get a US Platinum single + Disc-Overy Debuts on US Album Chart

A huge congratulations is in order for former After Shock Crew member turned award winning, multi-platinum selling artist, Tinie Tempah as he has become the first British born rapper to achieve a platinum record with his US debut single, “Written In The Stars”, as the single entered in the top 15 on the US Hot 100 chart, surpassing legends such as Slick Rick and Monie Love. Having already topped the UK singles charts last September, Tinie has gone on to shift more than one million copies of the Ishi-produced track as it has peaked in the US Top 100 Singles chart at no.12.

A further congratulations is in order for Tinie as his debut album, Disc-Overy, debuted in the top 30 of the US Albums Charts at number 27, selling approximately 14,102 copies in it’s first week, out selling the New Boyz, who’s sophmore LP, Too Cool to Care, sold 11,627 copies.

Ohh and before any of you UK heads start calling Tinie’s LP a US flop, Akon‘s first album, Trouble, sold a mere 28,000 copies in it’s first week and went on to sellin 1.8 million units and Tiao Cruz‘ second album, Rokstarr, (his first US album release) debuted at number 8 on the US Album Charts, with sales of 24,000 copies, before we went on to sell millions of singles stateside.

“Clap for him…” – Jay-Z
