Timbaland announces two new Missy Elliott singles | Music news

Missy Elliott‘s seventh studio album – her first since 2005’s The Cookbook – has been a long-time coming, but it finally looks like the record is in motion. Taking to Twitter earlier today, her long-time friend and collaborator Timbaland announced not one, but two, new singles from Miss E, which will be titled “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat.”

He also revealed that the tracks will be released on Labor Day Weekend (the first Monday in September), which falls on September 3rd this year.

The announcement comes on the 11th anniversary of both Timbaland and Missy Elliott’s close friend and fellow artist Aaliyah, who tragically died in an airplane crash in 2001. “AALIYAH u will always be a 1 in A MILLION to your Fans & TheSupafriends Me,Timbo,Magoo,Ginuwine,Playa,Tweet,Nicole. WeLoveU,” Missy tweeted earlier today. Although a posthumous album from the late singer is reportedly in the works, both Timbo or Missy denied any involvement.
