Tim Westwood blasts Peter Rosenberg over ‘Starships’ comments in Nicki Minaj interview [Video]

It’s always kinda weird when these two get together. I can’t pinpoint it, but there’s just a creepy vibe about it. For the second time this year (in their previous interview, Nicki discussed early retirement due to a poor critical response to her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album), Tim Westwood caught up with Nicki Minaj, where they mulled over recent controversy.

In response to Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg‘s comments on her “Starships” song, which led to her subsequent cancellation at this year’s Summer Jam, Nicki explained how she wanted more respect and she feels there’s a degree of sexism in the industry.

Westwood, more boldly, blasted Rosenberg, stating “sometimes these radio guys think they can just get away with murder” before suggesting the Young Money barbie should have “gone on stage and dissed the heck out of him”, which prompted a response from the DJ earlier this morning.

As if there hasn’t enough tension in hip-hop in recent months, what with Young Chop wanting to sue Kanye West, Pusha T and Lil Wayne sharing words and even rap’s good guys Lupe Fiasco and Pete Rock going back-and-forth, could there be a dispute growing between two of the genre’s best-known radio DJs? Stay tuned.
