Tim Moorehead – “West Coast Groove” | New Music

Not many rappers simply use their government name when they take stage. In a genre full of cockiness and emphasis on competition, Tim Moorehead opposes the mindset of a typical emcee – made evident in “West Coast Groove,” a sleek jam featuring a relaxing guitar loop and jazzy synths from his recently released Oktoberfest mixtape, paying tribute to the legendary figures and laidback mindset of west coast hip-hop culture.

Throughout “West Coast Groove,” produced by Saint Los, the Maryland native maintains a charismatic, dynamic delivery and is not afraid to delve into deeper spiritual and introspective topics that many of his peers wouldn’t touch. Without getting too preachy, Tim puts ego and competition aside for the time being and simply shows love to the opposite coast on this ambient cut.

Oktoberfest, Tim’s third mixtape, is filled with diverse production sampling everything from blues to soul to gospel, and Tim covers a variety of subjects with an admirable level of thoughtfulness and optimism.
