The xx perform “Angels” live in a Tokyo hotel room [Video]

The xx‘s music translates well to both earphones and intimate live gigs. But Jamie, Romy and Oliver tried their material in a Tokyo hotel room (yep, a Tokyo hotel room) recently, and as it turns out, it’s pretty damn awesome. According to the band’s Facebook page, they were simply inspired by the Japanese city and its views.

“We filmed this whilst on tour in Tokyo. We were so inspired by Tokyo and the view from Romy’s hotel room on the 33rd floor, that we asked our friend Jamie-James Medina to film us recording a version of Angels in there. Love, The xx,” read the post.

You can watch the live rendition below, and stream “Angels” in its full glory here. Do remember, The xx’s sophomore album, Coexist, is due out September 10th (September 11th in the U.S.).
