The Seshen – “Oblivion” | New Music

As of late, the Bay Area has been putting out a load of quality music shown with artists like the beautiful Mara Hruby, Hip Hop duo The Jealous Guys, and producer Blackbird Blackbird. Hoping to be added to that list is San Francisco based group The Seshen. Influenced by Beach House, Erykah Badu, Little Dragon and J.Dilla just to name a few, The Shesen is easily a sound that has been missing in music coming from the region.

Made up of synchronizer/sampler Kumar Butler, bassist/producer Aki Ehara, drummer Julian Pont, keyboardist Mahesh Rao, percussionist Mirza Kopelman and vocalists Lalin St. Juste and Akasha Orr, the band combines multiple sounds and genres into their finished project.

The band just released their new single, “Oblivion,” which is one of the first tastes we can get from their debut project. The song has a beachy vibe, and nice vocals from Lalin St. Juste whose voice sounds like the blend of Muhsinah, and Amber from King. If you are interested in hearing additional music from the band, you can listen via SoundCloud.
