The Noisettes return with new single “That Girl” | New Music

After a three year gap since the release of their sophomore album Wild Young Hearts, English indie-rock band the Noisettes are back (minus drummer Jamie Morrison who left the band in 2010) with the debut single from their forthcoming full-length Contact.

“That Girl” is an unashamedly sugary pop number – a 1960s throwback record with a chorus that has shades of Billy Joel‘s “Uptown Girl” and is clearly tailored for summer radio play and spins in jukeboxes located in American diners. It’s enjoyable in parts but slips onto the wrong side of kitschy on more than one occasion. Ultimately lead singer Shingai Shoniwa drags the song over the finish line – she remains a charismatic vocal presence with a voice that’s a joy to listen to.
