The Dean Brothers (Ruff Ryders): Where I’m From Ep. 4 by GasFace | Docu-Series

From 1998 through to 2002 Ruff Ryders Entertainment was a force to be reckoned with. With artists such as DMX, Eve, The L.O.X., Jadakiss and stellar production from some guy called Swizz Beatz, they were able to drop some of Hip Hop’s most revered albums including It’s Dark and Hell Is HotFlesh of My Flesh, Blood of My BloodFirst LadyKiss tha Game GoodbyeMoney, Power & Respect and Ryde or Die Vol. 1.

Where did it all begin?

Media Gasface caught up with the Dean brothers – the masterminds behind the juggernaut that was the Ruff Ryders – for the fourth webisode of their docu-series Where I’m From and asked them to tell the story of their origins in Hip Hop and ultimately where the Ruff Ryders came from.

Meet the Dean Brothers, TD and Waah: the first one fathered Swizz Beatz, and the second one the whole Ruff Ryders movement.

You know when people say Kool Herc is the roots to it all?
That’s true for these guys too, only literally : the man was living in the apt under them back in the 70’s.

Ain’t that unexpected ? So is learning that the blueprint of DMX’s career was designed by Mount Vernon’s most notorious Overweight Lover, Heavy D. –Gasface
