Tanya Lacey: inspiredBy… Mary J. Blige [“No More Drama”] | SoulCulture TV

Following the release of her Kano featuring single “Greatness“, Bristol, UK hailing R&B star on the rise Tanya Lacey invited us to her studio to deliver a powerful performance for SoulCulture TV‘s inspiredBy series and pay homage to one of her biggest inspirations, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige.

The singer, songwriter and now independent label boss, after parting ways with Sony records, gave us a passionate rendition of Mary J. Blige‘s 2001 anthem, “No More Drama“, the title track from her multi-platinum fifth solo studio album.

“She’s an absolute legend and I love her honesty and her passion in her vocals, she’s got an amazing tone” said Tanya about what inspires her about Mary J. Blige, “It’s a song that I think will always be relevant, there’s always going to be a time in your life when your just like enough is enough, no more drama, I’m done. I’ve been going through my own personal transitions with my music and doing things independently now rather than being with a label and I just felt like this song was appropriate because it’s not about drama, I’m ready to embark on the journey and do it drama free…hopefully.”
