SpaceGhostPurrp – ‘Mysterious Phonk: Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp’ | Album Stream

Ahead of the release of his debut album Mysterious Phonk: Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp – which hits shelves on June 12th via UK indie 4AD, a distribution deal which was announced back in March – Floridian-based producer-rapper and figurehead of the Raider Klan collective SpaceGhostPurrp serves up his LP for a full stream.

Purrp has established himself as one of the premier sonic architects of the “Trill Wave” sound, a blend of production most associated with choppy, lo-fi samples, dark and murky soundbeds and, above all, a healthy dose of 90s syrup-sippin’ Southern Rap inspiration.

Having creeped his way to internet fame over the past two years with mixtapes like Blackland Radio 66.6 (1991) and God Of Black Volume.1, accompanied by a couple of, oh, minor production credits along the way (Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, Juicy J), Mysterious Phonk: Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp should simply add an official liner note to SGP’s status among rap’s new wave.

“We try to stay away from all the B.S. that’s going on, and we don’t wanna be like nobody else,” he told Rolling Stoned in a recent interview, however. “We just wanna do what we wanna do, and that’s it.”

Keep it trill.
