Snapshots: Nas’ ‘The Don’ video shoot

Like they’ve done so many times before, yet another MC has taken advantage of what is soon to be Facebook’s new toy, Instagram, to give us curious observers a behind-the-scenes look at a video in progress. The latest generous photo app user is Nas, who shared a couple flicks from the set of his next visual “The Don.”

Looks like the artist formerly known as Esco might be veering from the typical mafioso connotation of “Don” and taking a slightly different approach with this one. Absent, at least in these photos, are people in suits, ring-kissing, champagne or any of the standard mob imagery to which we’ve become accustomed. Instead, the QB MC seems to be going a grittier route, passing on the tailored suits and shined shoes in favor of camouflage jackets and Timberlands. If that is actually the case, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch from the back-to-the-essence aesthetic of his “Nasty” video, which saw him going from the glamour and glitz of his Hip-Hop superstardom back to the grimy realness of the Queensbridge projects.

Guess we’ll have to wait until at least the next photo leak to see exactly what angle Nas takes with this one.

Life Is Good is coming soon.
