Smiler drops an “F64” freestyle [Video]

To me, Smiler‘s one of the illest MCs in the UK. In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb early (and prepare myself for the inevitable abuse that’s going to come from certain corners) here – I’d even liken him to a Reasonable Doubt era Jay-Z. Perhaps not quite as slick as Hov was back in 1996, Smiler is a masterful storyteller with a gift for braggadocio and the ability to construct some dope and impressive rhyme schemes.

On top of all that, he probably sounds best on Hip-Hop beats that sound like they’re straight out of the mid-to-late 1990s (although he did murder the recent, highly futuristic-sounding “The Delorean”) – for my money, he’d fit in with a bunch of the New York rappers around in that time period. I’m a fan.

Peep his F64, which some are already claiming is the best ever. I’d take that with a pinch of salt given that people make that declaration about every new F64 which drops, but this is definitely an attention-grabbing appearance from the Atlantic-signed rapper whom many are tipping to break through this year.
