Slum Village f/ De La Soul – “Turning Me Off” | New Music

Underground kings Slum Village team up with legendary emcee crew De La Soul for “Turning Me Off,” a refreshing dose of the good ol’ boom-bap both crews have become known for. The song is the first single from Slum Village’s Mick Boogie-assisted mixtape, Dirty Slums.

The mixtape’s title is a combination of the group’s name and the title of their 2002 mixtape Dirty District, which was dedicated not to showing the world how dope they are but instead to breaking about a dozen of their fellow Detroit MCs. Moves like that are one of the reasons the name Slum Village is so respected throughout their hometown and the Hip-Hop community at large.

The crew — of which the late, great J. Dilla was a member — is currently embarked on the six-date Dirty Slums Tour with Little Brother alumnus Big Pooh. See if the tour swings by your town by clicking here.

Dirty Slums drops March 27th.
