Skyzoo freestyles in The Backroom at 106 & Park [Video]

Brooklyn boy Skyzoo dropped in to The Backroom at 106 & Park yesterday to lay down a minute and 40 seconds of  typically well-crafted bars.

The gritty underground rapper sounded dexterous as ever over frequent collaborator !llmind‘s nodding beat, rapping, “No one can out-write me, I write like I’m in a white Lex to the left and anger is to the right of me.”

Signed to indie label Duck Down Records, Sky’s street scholar vibe and locally anchored sound brought him critical acclaim in 2009 for his debut album with 9th WonderThe Salvation. His second LP, A Dream Deferred, has just been released, and includes features from Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, Raheem DeVaughn and Freeway. With production from !llmind, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, DJ Khalil and Jahlil Beats, it’s well worth a listen.

Check out Skyzoo’s collaboration with Talib Kweli here and another !llmind produced track from the album here.

A Dream Deferred is available for purchase on iTunes now.
