The ink on his new TDE record deal with Aftermath/Interscope barely dry, West Coast rapper Schoolboy Q lived it up in Austin, Texas last week tearing up the stages at the popular annual music festival SXSW.

Taking a quick break from energetically rocking the Pitchfork stage alongside sets from his Black Hippy crewmates Ab-Soul and Jay Rock, Q gives Pitchfork Weekly some brief insight into his life and times, breaking down his entry into the rap game, his stint as a hype man, working with Kendrick Lamar and his relationship with his mother.
