Ronald Isley x Lauryn Hill Cover Burt Bacharach/Hal David Classic “Close To You”

Well, well, well. Ronald Isley managed to serenade Lauryn Hill into the studio for this elegant cover of the Burt Bacharach and Hal David penned classic “(They Love To Be) Close To You” – revisited this time for Isley’s new album Mr. I, due for release via Def Jam this month.

Originally recorded by Richard Chamberlain in the ’60s, “Close To You” was popularised by an endless string of cover versions by many artists over the decades including Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, The Carpenters, Frank Sinatra, Isaac Hayes and more recently Tamia with Gerald Levert.

In an interview earlier this year Ronald revealed that he was working with Lauryn Hill, T.I., Rick Ross and Burt Bacharach on his new album, proclaiming, “I feel like I’m 18 again and starting a new career.”

In addition to Mr. I, does this version have you hungering for a new album from Ms Hill?
