Rihanna tops UK Singles Chart with “Diamonds” | Music News

The first single from Rihanna’s upcoming seventh album, titled Seven, upon entering the charts her new song “Diamonds” has been confirmed as this week’s number one single in the UK.

After spending the weekend performing in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Bajan adds to her collection a sixth UK number one, with “Diamonds” managing to push the entertainingly infectious South Korean number “Gangnam Style” by Psy down to number two. Her British Navi really do carry clout.

Other new entries “Live While We’re Young” from One Direction and Bond theme tune “Skyfall” by 21 singer Adele came in at a respective third and fourth in this week’s chart.

The Official Chart company’s midweek predictions did point towards a number one face off between One Direction and Rihanna, with the former X-Factor contesting boyband leading on Wednesday with 250 copies more than “Diamonds” Ellie Goulding also entered this week’s chart with her new single “Anything Could Happen,” at number five giving the singer her sixth top 40 hit.
