Rihanna gains first US No. 1 album with ‘Unapologetic’ | Chart News

It seems a little bit surprising at this point in her career, but Rihanna, the global popstar who seems to dominate radio and TV every time a single drops, has only just scored her first number one album in the US with her latest album Unapologetic.

This is her seventh LP release, and although coming a long way from her first album Music Of The Sun, it seems the top spot on the Billboard album chart has always escaped her. Rihanna took to Twitter upon hearing the Unapologetic news, thanking her fans for the achievement.

Her first week sales of 238,000 copies sold were enough to shift boyband One Direction from the number one spot, and also keep Taylor Swift‘s album, Red, at bay. Great first week sales were much likely boosted by her recent 777 tour which saw her touring seven countries in as many days, being flown in a plane filled to the brim with journalists, keeping her name in the press every day.
