Rihanna defends Chris Brown collaboration | Music News

Following the releases of “Birthday Cake” and “Turn Up The Music,” a number of people were shocked by the Rihanna/Chris Brown reunion with many criticising Rihanna for sending out a bad message to her fans. Since the songs debuted there has been little talk from either camp other than a few tweets, but Rihanna has now explained her decision to Ryan Seacrest.

During a phone interview on Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show, On-Air With Ryan Seacrest, she explained that the choice to work with Chris Brown was a business decision as he’s “the hottest R&B artist out right now.”

She further explained: “I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because that’s the only person that really… it made sense to do the record. So I wanted him on the track.”

When Seacrest asked how the collaboration for Chris’s track, came about, she says that it was a trade off, something to please both sets of fans. “That way our fans can come together. There shouldn’t be a divide. It’s music and it’s innocent.”
