I would completely agree with Nayomi’s analysis except I wouldn’t be as charitable. It’s not absolutely terrible but Rihanna has neither the vocal prowess or requisite quality to her voice to evoke the proper emotion. Given the gravity of the cause and the reputation of the song she is completely the wrong choice for it. It’s a populist decision and is almost sacrilegious considering. Bob’s corpse might even be spinning somewhere. A shame.

Hmmm… I thought the Rihanna cover was going to be horrible but its actually not that bad. And for me that really saying something because I think she is one of the worst commercial singers (vocally wise). I actually thought she was gonna ruin a Bob Marley classic for me but it seems like she kinda got better, I have to admit. Still won’t be buying it though.
