Rev. Run & Vanessa Simmons respond to Diggy’s J.Cole diss track “What You Say To Me”

With a beef between Diggy and J.Cole seemingly established, after a “diss” record from young Diggy aimed at the Roc Nation rapper surfaced mere hours ago, father Joseph “Rev Run” and older sister Vanessa Simmons gave their two cents on the issue.

Sharing some strong words via Twitter, Rev Run said:

Sister Vanessa rescinded Cole’s claims that he had hooked up with her (as implied on his song, “Purple Rain”), tweeting:

The apparent beef between Diggy and J.Cole stems from a track that surfaced online earlier today called “What You Say To Me”, in which Diggy fired back at his counterpart – who lightly mocked the teenage rapper on “Grew Up Fast” – with lines like: Little n***a think he Cole, think he live like me / Jet setter, trend setter – yeah you not like me / Can’t find a girl you know that do not like me / I can’t find a girl I know, that knows you / You local, wasn’t even poppin’ in the school you used to go to.

The-17-year-old emcee also took exception to Jermaine’s claims about his sister, rapping: The other day I was listening to “Purple Rain” / Couldn’t believe all of the things that I heard him say / Who Dat? Who Dat? You know who it is / Heard you lying on my sis, tellin’ people that you hit…

There’s no official time stamp on Diggy’s “What You Say To Me”, but as Rev Run indicates, the “diss” record is, in fact, old. It’ll be interesting to see how J.Cole responds, but let it be known that today is April 1st, and we all know what hilarity ensues on this particular date.

What do you think – is this a legitimate beef, or will it turn out to be one big prank?
