Reggae star Busy Signal arrested on extradition warrant | Music News

Top reggae/dancehall entertainer Busy Signal was arrested Monday afternoon in Jamaica on an extradition warrant, The Gleaner reports.

The arrest came immediately upon the singer’s return to Jamaica after touring Europe. Unlike last year’s arrest of Vybz Kartel, clean-cut Busy’s arrest comes as a great surprise to fans of reggae.

It is alleged that Busy Signal, real name Glendale Gordon, has been under investigation since 2002 and the arrest is linked to drug-related charges stemming from time in USA. Gordon hasn’t been able to obtain a US visa for at least 7 years.

Gordon becomes the third high-profile reggae entertainer to be locked up recently, alongside Kartel and Buju Banton.

The arrest comes whilst Gordon rides the wave of Reggae Music Again, his most critically-acclaimed release to date, which reached the Top 5 on Billboard reggae charts, as well as “Push & Shove,” his collaboration with No Doubt and Diplo.
