Qwote ft Rick Ross – “I Want You” | New Music

This new joint, from Miami residents Qwote and Rick Ross, is crazy – one of the freshest R&B tracks I’ve heard in a while. It’s a smooth downtempo jam that successfully uses a very familiar sample and features a pretty nice guest verse from man-of-the-moment Rozay. Hard as I try to hate on him, there’s no denying that Officer Ricky is on fire right now.

Qwote, who was born in Haiti, is signed to Slip-n-Slide Records and got his start in the game working alongside Trina at that label’s studio. They liked his work and gave him a deal. His forthcoming album Pillow Talk is due to drop this year and based on the strength of “I Want You”, it might just be worth checking for. On the other hand though, Qwote’s biography describes him as a “pop artist” and he’s got a track with Pitbull, so there’s plenty of scope for it to all go wrong…

This is dope, but in all fairness, most records that sample Michael Jackson‘s all-time classic “The Lady In My Life” end up winning. It’s one of the sexiest samples in R&B in my opinion and can elevate a good track to greatness.
