Questlove x Beastie Boys – ‘Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Demo Mix’ | New Music

One of most hip-hop’s learned historians and well-loved characters Questlove proves exactly why he carries those two titles (albeit me just handing them to him, but I think we can all agree). The Roots drummer has released a nearly-six-minute demo mix he recorded for the Beastie Boys‘ tribute at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame show, which not only compiles classics like “Sabotage”, “The New Style” and “No Sleep Til Brooklyn” together, but rehashed versions of these hits, featuring Questo’s vocal imitations. You’ll be bopping your head and chuckling away at the same (damn) time.

You can stream the demo mix below, and head on over to Okayplayer to read Questlove’s full commentary on how he selected the cuts, how he ordered them, and how much he hates his lunch breaks these days.
