Pusha T x The-Dream talk ‘Exodus 23:1’ with MTV [Video]

Before all the drama surrounding Pusha T‘s “Exodus 23:1popped off, MTV caught up with Mr. Thornton and co-conspirator The-Dream for the story on how the track came about.

“It really started with this beat from Rico [Love]. We were like, ‘Yo, Dream would just sound amazing on the record, period.’ So we sent it out and it came back so quick,” Push Ton explained. He also described how working with The-Dream and his G.O.O.D. Music boss Kanye West has helped him become a better overall artist. “I feel like I’m in with the best of the best. You’ve got Dream on one end, you’ve got Kanye on another end, and you can learn so much. I really look at myself as just a rapper’s rapper, but I’ve learned so much about song structure from Dream.”

The respect is obviously mutual, as Dream also had high praise for Pusha.

“I always personally felt like he was one of the best at what he did, period,” he said. “[There’s] lots of guys that are great from a rap standpoint, but in songs they’re not as great.”
