Former US marine Orville Burrell​, known to most by his dancehall moniker Shaggy, has reached mainstream heights no other dancehall artist has in terms of mainstream success. Chart-topping singles and album all over the world with a career spanning near 20 years, most notably 2001′s diamond-selling Hot Shot which boasted singles “It Wasn’t Me” and “Angel” – both in the top five selling singles of the year in the UK.

Summer 2011 sees the release of new EP titled Summer In Kingston lead by single “Sugarcane,” a cheeky song about a females addiction to the cane, which is rapidly rising up the reggae charts.

SoulCulture writer Marvin Sparks recently caught up with the reggae star to find out why he started making music, evolving his style, working with Mavado and why he thinks UK rapper Chipmunk is “a force to be reckoned with” – read the interview here.

We got the first offering from the forthcoming Wu-Tang x D-Block collaborative project  entitled “Wu Block” featuring Ghostface Killah, Jadakiss, Styles P, Raekwon and Sheek Louch. Real hip hop ish!

Cole dropped the second installment of his weekly Any Given Sunday series of freeness leading up to the release of his debut LP Cole World: The Sideline Story on September 27th. Yeah bebeh.

We brought you the full version of Busta Rhymes and DMX‘ take on Ye and Jay’s “Otis” and J Records signed singer/songwriter Elle Varver‘s link up with J Cole‘s on her track entitled “Only Wanna Give It To You.”

The official music videos from N Dubz’s Dappy made a solid visual impact for his first solo effort “No Regrets”, whilst Jhene Aiko took to her webcam to record her take of Marvin Gaye’s classic “Let’s Get It On”. Over in Canada, Drake let his sensitive shine onstage paying homage to Destiny’s Child with a slowed down version of the group’s The Writing’s On The Wall classic, “Say My Name” at OVO Fest 2011.
