Looking back at the prior week with SoulCulture, we hooked you up with full coverage from the MTV Video Music Awards 2011 including performances from Jay-Z and Kanye, plus Beyonce’s baby announcement! News about Sizzla, new music from Lil Wayne and JoJo, we brought you BET’s tribute to the late Babygirl Aaliyah and catch up on tv happenings with our highlight of the X Factor. PHEW! Leggo.

MUSIC NEWS
The prestigious MTV Video Music Awards 2011 came and we brought you the whole thing from the red carpet, the live stream and all of the performances from the night – including Jay-Z x Kanye West and the highlight of the night – when Beyonce announced her pregnancy after performing “Love On Top”. That’s how you do it!

Whilst all this was going on, J Cole released the official tracklitsing for his long awaited album Cole World: The Sideline Story in the fifth of his Any Given Sunday series  and we saw some stills from Nas’ new video for the Illmatic-inspired single “Nasty”.

Lil Wayne’s new album Tha Carter IV sprung a leak and we brought you “It’s Good” featuring Drake and Jadakiss where Weezy fires shots at Jay Z. Jada made clear he was not a part of the hype making sure we all knew his views though – read the story here and comedian and Jay-Z impersonator Affion Crockett responded on behalf of Hova – ha.

We also brought you the news of reggae veteran Sizzla‘s bike accident and brought you up  to speed on Amy Winehouse’s toxicology results.

NEW MUSIC
New music came courtesy of JoJo’s official single from her long awaited third studio album Jumping Trains entitled “Disaster”, another fresh cut called “Try” from Odd Future’s golden boy Frank Ocean, an unlikely take on Drake’s “Trust Issues” by Justin Bieber and a dubstep remix of The Weeknd’s “The Zone”.

MUSIC VIDEOS
An assortment of official videos came from Lil Wayne for “How To Love”, Beyonce‘s 1+1, Leona Lewis x Avicii‘s “Collide”, the visuals for Rihanna‘s “Cheers (Drink To That)”, Nicki Minaj x Rihanna’s “Fly and Big K.R.I.T.’s video for “The Vent”.

TV CATCH UP
The UK’s X-Factor found Misha Bryan demanding some “Respect” for her audition – Cher Lloyd who? Across the waters, for MTV‘s When I Was 17 series Tyler, The Creator, Big Sean x Kreayshawn took us back and if you missed it, you can catch up with BET tribute’s to the “One In A Million” Aaliyah.
