PJ Harvey takes home her 2nd Mercury Music Prize | Music News


British musician, singer-songwriter and composer PJ Harvey became the first artist to take home the coveted Mercury Music Prize twice since the award ceremony began nearly 20years ago and marked her first appearance at the awards as she was stuck in a hotel room Washington, DC due to the world shattering events of 9/11 on day she won her first award for Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea on the 9th of September 2001.
The 41 year old singer expressed her joy at finally being able to attend the Mercury Awards as she took the stage to accept her award, “It’s really good to be here as when I last won 10 years ago on September 11 I was in DC watching the Pentagon burn from my hotel room.”

Beating the likes of Adele, Tinie Tempah, James Blake, Metronomy, Katy B, Ghostpoet and more with her eighth album release Let England Shake which was influenced by the by the events following the 9/11 bombing and took years of research and care to complete, “It makes me really happy and it makes me want to continue to go about my work as I’ve always done, taking great care and seriousness over it.”
