Odd Future reportedly signs deal with RED Distribution | Music News

Following a tweet from Odd Future‘s de facto leader Tyler, The Creator yesterday, the interwebs have been rife with rumours about who has picked up the Los Angeles, California based Hip Hop collective, who have become the hottest property in the world and have been courted by both Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation label and Diddy‘s Bad Boy label…

Well the word from the good folk at Rap Radar is that Odd Future Records will sign with RED Distribution, which is an independent a division of Sony Music Entertainment.

OFWGKTA’s manager Chris Clancy provided this statement:

“It’s based on getting the distribution deal we’ve always envisioned that allows the group to “sign themselves” to their own company and keep their masters. They will have 100% creative control of all aspects of their music, art, and release schedule with no 3rd party participation in outside business. Freedom and ownership was the whole point. Red and Sony know that its in everyone’s best interest to maintain the group’s authenticity and control. They built it, they deserve it. There’s no cheesy hooks or fluorescent liquor product placements in the works.. It’s about to be fun.. and different.. “
