Obie Trice – “Pocket Full” (The Notorious B.I.G. Tribute) | New Music

A tribute to the late great The Notorious B.I.G., who died 16 years ago yesterday, “Pocket Full” is the latest single from former-Shady Records rhymer Obie Trice.

Curving his lyrical delivery to one that mimics the legendary Frank White’s, Obie’s tales of a hustler’s life gets pretty real on this one. With an on-point piece of production laying the foundation for the Detroit rapper to go in over, lines like “Jakes steady chasing me, raided my mom house/ My fam can’t face me, saying I disgraced ’em serving up these junkies,” and, “How can I be racist? I love green bills with white faces,” a quirky yet street certified Obie creates the type of imagery associated with the popular TV show The Wire.
