No I.D. appointed Executive V.P of Def Jam Records | Music News

Last night at the ASCAP’s Rhythm and Soul team’s pre-VMAs Bowling Mixer Billboard caught up with the production legend No I.D. who has been described as “The Godfather of Chicago hip hop” and he revealed that he has taken a new position at the powerhouse record label Def Jam Records.

“I’m (now) executive VP of Def Jam,” announced the producer who has racked up credits on records with Common, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Rihanna and many more. “I’m going to keep on doing what I’m doing and take it to another level.

“Def Jam is a cultural staple,” No I.D. said. “It’s not just a label, it’s part of the culture that I came up in and that I’ve been involved with for 20 years. It’s very important that the next generation of executives grab it by the horns and keep it on track as it grows.”

Congratulations to No I.D, I’m truly looking forward to seeing what he brings to the House that Russell and Rick built.
