Nicki Minaj talks selling out with Funkmaster Flex: “I’m smart enough to know what I’m doing”

If you’ve heard Nicki Minaj‘s new song with Lil Wayne, you’ll know she means business. In “Roman Reloaded,” the Barb shoots back at all those who have accused her of selling out. “Nicki pop? Only thing that pop is my endorsement opp.”

Now Nicki takes it one step further by calling Funkmaster Flex after the premiere of the track; “I just hope people know at this point that I’m smart enough to know what I’m doing all the time,” she says.

“I always planned on putting out something urban after ‘Starships.’… may be it would be a problem if I couldn’t deliver tracks like ‘Roman Reloaded’ but I can. I write my own lyrics.”

“Pop reaches everywhere… so my fans or HipHop culture may feel afraid that I’m going to leave. But this is who I am. I’m not going to change, I’m just adding on to my brand.”
