Nicki Minaj becomes first female rapper to top UK albums chart | Music News
Nicki Minaj‘s transformation from hardcore Queens rapper to universal pop icon looks to be a leap closer as the Young Money rapper’s sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded tonight claimed the #1 spot on the UK Top 40 Albums Chart, making her the first ever female emcee to achieve the feat.
The album, which became one of the fastest-selling LPs of the year shifting 20,000 units within 24 hours of its release, held a whopping 15K lead over the #2 album, Labrinth‘s Electronic Earth.
Ms. Minaj looks to further her achievements. Coupled with Roman Reloaded‘s #5 spot on the Australian albums chart, the record is expected to debut at #1 on the US Billboard Chart on Wednesday, making it one of the highest-selling albums of 2012.
Although Roman Reloaded speaks more to a Dance/Pop audience its dedicated “street single,” the 2 Chainz-assisted “Beez In The Trap,” received its official music video a few days ago.
