In October 2011, during Atlanta’s A3C Festival weekend, the city’s production teams SMKA & The Flush linked up with the legendary Stankonia Studios and a number of talented artists (including 9th Wonder, Killer Mike, Rapsody and Fashawn) to record a compilation project entitled Stankonia Sessions: A3C Edition.

For three days this year the Stankonia Studios have played host to the second Sessions, once again coinciding with A3C. This time the collaborative album features appearances from the following rappers: King Chip a.k.a Chip Tha Ripper, Los, Phil Ade, CunninLyguists, Two9, Chuuwee, Emilio Rojas, Neako, Boldy James, Thurz, Bizarre, Rapper Big Pooh, Torae, Skyzoo, Slum Village, Kris Kasanova, Dee Goodz, Los Rakas, Scolla, J.Nics, Dreamer, Scotty.

The Sparks“, which is the first single from the 2012 project, combines Thurz, one-half of LA rap duo U-N-I, with East Coasters Los and Skyzoo. The mellow production might lean closer to the sunlight than to the streets of BK or Baltimore, but it’s the perfect backdrop for all three artists to test their lyrical prowess. Have a listen for yourself below and look out for the release of the full Stankonia Sessions in the coming weeks.
