L.A. based production trio The Decoders enlist Mara Hruby and Van Hunt for a little “Respect.”

Penned and originally released by Otis Redding, the classic “Respect” was turned into an international hit by Aretha Franklin in 1967 – but it’s The Rotary Connection‘s 1969 smooth, psychedelic soul version that The Decoders draw on for their remake, with Hruby and Hunt’s dulcet, delicate vocals forming gentle harmonies over live strings and horns in this mellow session.

This take on “Respect” will feature on The Decoders’ upcoming homage to Minnie Riperton – a full length album, titled Adventures From Paradise: A Tribute To Minnie Riperton, which promises to blend “elements of jazz, soul, psychadelic rock, funk and disco with The Decoders signature Jamaican Lovers Rock, Dub and Brazilian Rare Groove re-arrangements of classic soul.” So far, so delightful.
