Bronx, New York native Fred The Godson puts in work for his latest track. Despite boasting a style that speaks to more traditional East Coast rap fans than contemporary listeners, the bullish emcee employs crashing percussion, 808 drums and a looped Rihanna sample – a combination that makes for a much more Southern suited sound – for this new offering. Having failed to fully capitalise on his 2011 XXL Freshmen nod, especially when you compare him to his classmates like Mac Miller, Big K.R.I.T. and Meek Mill, you can’t blame the fella for trying something new.
“Put In Work” will be found on Fred’s Gordo Frederico mixtape, which drops August 15th. In the meantime, be sure to check out his existing project, the Gangsta Grillz-certified City of God.
