New Jill Scott album, The Light Of The Sun, set for a Spring/Summer release
If we’re given all we’re promised in 2010, it’s looking set to be a great year for music. Whilst keeping your ears peeled for new releases from Sade, Erykah, Maxwell and Marsha Ambrosius (to name but a few), here’s another album to look forward to this year: Jill Scott‘s fourth volume of Words and Sounds – titled The Light Of The Sun – with an expected Spring/Summer 2010 release. We’re told, “The album embarks Jill on a flurry of emotional poetry as both her career and personal life have skyrocketed with success in Hollywood and birth of first child.”
Jilly from Philly will also be taking her words and sounds back to the stage as a featured performer alongside Sarah McLachlan, Mary J.Blige, Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, Colbie Caillat at the 2010 Lilith Fair Tour; a celebration of diverse female voices across all genres. Dates are still being confirmed – for information visit www.lilithfair.com.
In other, non-musical Jill Scott news, she features in Lifetime Movie Network telepic Sins Of The Mother which hits screens on February 7th. The film revolves around a grad student who returns home to face her abusive, alcoholic mother – played by Scott – only to discover that her mom is sober and has a 3-year-old daughter and new life. Directed by Paul Kaufman and Executive produced by Damon Lee, the telepic is based on the novel Orange, Mint & Honey and adapted for television by Elizabeth Hunter.
On yet another acting tip, Jill also stars in Tyler Perry movie sequel Why Did I Get Married Too? alongside Janet Jackson, Michael Jai White and Tyler Perry – set for release on April 2nd. She also voices turbulent X-Men heroine Storm in the forthcoming Black Panther mini-series (Marvel/BET).

I truly like Jill Scotts music because she feels it with pure & true emotion, it’s NOT PHONY-We have MORE THAN ENOUGH music & videos that are put out there STRICTLY TO SELL ONLY-I VALUE TRUE HEARTFELT EMOTION,with all that we go through each & everyday of our lives is intense & filled with phony ppl @ work, as you go to take care of business, going to grocery stores etc…When you get the opportunity to get music into your ears & heart wouldn’t you PREFER a true & keeping it real type of artist? Someone who writes what’s real? people LOVE to MISLEAD US, I say ALL THE TIME “KEEP IT REAL” I WON’T SETTLE FOR ANY LESS!! TELL ME WHY SHOULD WE? WE DESERVE THE REAL DEAL!!
