Nelly Furtado working on T.S.I. album w/ Rodney Jerkins, Salaam Remi & Di Genius [Video] | Music News

With over 50 awards under her belt including a Grammy for her 2000 single “I’m Like A Bird,” Canadian songstress Nelly Furtado has a new album in the works, titled T.S.I., and takes the viewer behind the scenes as she puts it together with a range of heavyweight producers.

In the diary episodes below, the English and Portuguese-speaking singer shares her experiences of working with producers Rodney Jerkins [“I like when I feel challenged by a producer”] and Salaam Remi [“All the music he’s done in general, from Amy Winehouse to Nas, it has a real classic sound to it, a sound that’s really authentic, super soulful – and his personality is like that too”].

She also takes us behind the scenes with reggae producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor [“I don’t know what it is about reggae and Jamaican music that I connect with but there is a certain style of singing that’s so laid back, so cool, so effortless, so passionate that it really connected with me”], and speaks on working with Grammy / Ivor Novello award-winning songwriter/producer Rick Nowels, who co-wrote “In God’s Hands” on her 2009 album Loose [“he brings out a side of my songwriting that’s pretty epic”].
