Nelly Furtado‘s presence has been relatively scarce since her 2009 album Mi Plan, but the Canadian singer is making her way back to the scene with My Spirit Indestructible, her fifth studio album due for a summer release. The album’s first single is “Big Hoops (Bigger the Better),” a bass-heavy, club-ready cut produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
“Big Hoops” sees Furtado finding strength in the size of her earrings, making the accessory the spinach to Nelly’s Popeye — or the hair to Nelly’s Samson; or the Red Bull to Nelly’s wings.
You get the point: Her earrings give her power so the bigger they are, the better.
My Spirit Indestructible will be Furtado’s first English-language album since 2006’s Loose and is set to hit stores this June.
