Nas talks new album, family + life challenges w/ Angie Martinez [Audio]

Nasty Nas, The Don, hit up The Angie Martinez Show to discuss all the happenings and the goings in the world of Nasir Jones. Lifting the lid on his personal life – his struggles as a fairly recent divorcee, his responsibilities as a father, and battles with the IRS – Queensbridge’s finest opened up candidly, broaching a number of intriguing subjects.

The QB general also gave fans a little taste of what his upcoming album, tentatively titled, Life is Good, will sound like, revealing the late great Heavy D‘s input in the recording and production of the new record’s lead single, “The Don.”

Having a longstanding friendship with Martinez, the legendary emcee is in good spirits throughout the interview, reflecting the lively and optimistic tone of his eagerly awaited album. The New York veteran even goes onto express his delight at the current state of HipHop, emphasizing his love for music.

Donning a black hoody, Martinez also touches on the tragic and contentious death of Trayvon Martin, prompting Nas to stress a sense of disaffection many would empathise with. As usual, Esco has a lot to say – take a listen to the interview below.
