Nas speaks on Jay-Z’s career [Audio]

For the latest installment of his always-enlightening Noisemakers interview series, radio personality Peter Rosenberg powwowed with Nas and got the God Son’s opinion on the career of his rival-turned-comrade, Jay-Z. It was the first time Nas had been asked about it, and he delivered his answer with quite the dramatic flourish.

“Martin Luther King died, Malcolm X died, Noble Drew Ali died, the honorable Marcus Garvey died… for Jay; for you and me,” Nas said. “So the fact that he’s doin’ what he’s doin’ is a wake-up call for the Gods and Earths to wake up and understand their true calling.”

“He’s one of the only ones out of the whole community that we grew up in … who’s taking this shit very seriously, musically and business-wise. That’s powerful so you gotta respect him,” he continued.

The interview took place in Austin, Texas, at the recent SXSW Festival and premieres in its entirety on Thursday, March 29.
