Nas f/ Lauryn Hill – “If I Ruled The World” (STWO & FITZ Remix)

If I Ruled The World (STWO & FITZ) - Art

We take a little trip back to the mid-90s, to a timeless collaboration between two Hip-Hop heavyweights in Nas and Lauryn Hill. “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)” – as it is officially titled on Nas’ 1996 release It Was Written – is considered by many within the community as one of the greatest records ever to come from that era.

Emerging 20-year-old producer/DJ STWO (pronounced “Stew”), hailing from the French capital, has been making steady waves online with an ever-increasing worldwide following. His ability to effortlessly blend soothing R&B/Soul basslines with super-silky vocal samples is demonstrated well on his excellent Beyond EP which has racked up almost half-a-million SoundCloud plays since it’s July release.

STWO joins forces here with his fellow Parisian producer Fitz as they combine to give this classic that authentically soulful edge; a suitable alternative to the relatively harder Rashad Smith/Trackmasters-produced original. Hit the play button below to enjoy and/or download the track here.

STWO’s Beyond EP is available now via Live For The Funk as well as his Moans EP here.
