Tracey Lee – “It’s About Time” | Music Video

After a long hiatus from the music industry to pursue a career as a legal attorney, DC native Tracey Lee returns with the Marvin Gaye sampling “It’s About Time”.

Tracey Lee is best known for his nineties smash “The Theme (It’s Party Time)” that featured on his album Many Facez. Released back in 1997, Tray was signed to Universal and was the final artist to ever record with The Notorious B.I.G. – on the track “Keep Your Hands High”, which featured the same MFSB sample that Jay-Z later used for his hit “What More Can I say” – before his untimely passing on March 9th 1997.

Unveiling his new video for “It’s About Time,” Tray informs fans that he feels it’s time to be back and why it’s taken so long for him to return to the music scene – “It’s all about timing. You dig me? Quality over quantity.” Taking a dig at radio stations that play the same five songs every 19 minutes, the soulfully induced banger that samples Marvin Gaye’s “Time To Get It Together” also touches upon today’s artists being good but that they don’t speak to the older generation. Watch below.
