Tony Bennett & Amy Winehouse – “Body & Soul” Studio Session [Video]

Well, we’ve seen clips and heard snippets of this one already, but here comes a further insight into how this collaboration came about.

The late great Amy Winehouse hooked up with legendary crooner Tony Bennett for the track “Body & Soul” before her tragic and untimely death, for the second of his duet albums Tony Bennett Duets II.

This video gives us a look at the recording of it in the legendary Abbey Road Studios, North London, with Amy talking about how the collaboration came about, in her very own unique way, and about the song itself.

Tony Bennett spoke to the Guardian (before Amy’s death) and said:

“Of all the contemporary artists I’ve worked with, she has the most natural jazz voice. Her phrasing and tone – she’s got it.” What was it like to work with her? “She was lovely. But I’d like to talk to her, and what I’d like to say to her is very personal. I’ve also had a moment of insecurity and darkness, and was able to pull out of it.”

Thought to be her last recording, it will be released on 14th September with all proceeds going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, set up in the wake of her death by her father Mitch, to assist people suffering from alcohol and drug abuse.
