The Roots ft. Aaron Livingston – “Sleep” | Music Video
Concluding the four-part video series to accompany their hugely anticipated 13th LP, undun, The Roots deliver yet more creative and captivating visuals, this time for the album opener, “Sleep”. With band drummer and legend in afro folklore, Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, expressing his desire to have a “unifying theme” in the group’s current music, the Legendary Crew have teamed up with director, Clifton Bell, to tell the story of one criminal Redford Stephens, who Thompson explains is: “actually thoughtful and is neither victim nor hero. Just some kid who begins to order his world in a way that makes the most sense to him at a given moment.”
Once you’ve come round from the mysterious instrumental’s hypnotic trance (don’t worry, you’re not the only one), refer to the previous “Stomp”, “Tip The Scale” and “Make My” videos to appreciate the full plot. undun will hit stores December 6th via Island/Def Jam.
